Personal Stuff

Hi! Well, you wanted to know a little about me, so here's a brief history. I was born on June 15, 1972, and grew up in the town of Wake Forest, NC (just north of Raleigh). My parents now live in Willow Spring, NC. I started my college career in Chicago, at the Illinois Institute of Technology, working towards a BS in electrical computer engineering. While I was there, I joined Theta Xi fraternity (great bunch of guys!). IIT was rather expensive, and liked to play games with my financial aid, so I transferred to Appalachian State University. I also changed my major to computer science. I earned my B.S. at ASU, and then went on to earn a Masters in computer science at Wake Forest University. This is where I met Boyana Radenska, whom I am now happily married to. I am now working as a research programmer at the Center for Simulation of Advanced Rockets at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign while Boyana works on her PhD in computer science. My wife and I are expecting a new addition to our family in late January! You can see some pictures of Alexander here.

I enjoy reading, and especially like science fiction and fantasy. Stephen King, Terry Pratchett, Alan Dean Foster, Robert Jordan, and J.R.R. Tolkien are favorites of mine. Michael Crichton and Michael Moorcock are overrated, IMNSHO. Piers Anthony used to be good, but now he's just a dirty old man. A shame, really. I also enjoy being outdoors (when it isn't too cold). Boyana and I both like animals, and we used to have quite an array of pets at home. I also enjoy gardening, and spending time with my family and friends.
