CSAR Systems
Sun Servers and Workstations
- galileo is a 2-processor Sun file and mail server. It is not meant
for interactive use, especially including CPU-intensive applications.
- raphson is a 6-processor (250 MHz) Sun E3000 with 1 GB memory.
This small compute server is shared with the Computational Science and Engineering Program.
- Sun Workstations from Ultra 1 140's to Ultra 60's (360 MHz) with
Creator-3D graphics grace the desks of many CSAR staff.
All of the CSAR Sun home directories are mounted from galileo, which also
has directories for various software packages.
Intel PC Cluster and Workstations
- Intel has donated components that will be used to construct
a Windows NT cluster, 32 processors at first.
- Public PC's
- Dell Optiplex (400 MHz Pentium II, 128 MB memory, 18.2 GB 10,000 RPM Ultra-2 SCSI disk, Windows 95, Video (S-VHS/VHS) output card). This system in 360A MELN can be used to write video tapes.
- Dell Precision Workstation (400 MHz Pentium II Xeon, 128 MB memory, 9.1 GB 7,200 RPM Ultra-2 SCSI disk, Windows NT, Intergraph Intense 3D Pro 3410T graphics card). This system will be located in DCL. Its 3-D graphics performance should be comparable to the Sun Creator 3-D systems.
